Domestic vs. Commercial Coffee Machines

Commercial coffee machines differ from their domestic counterparts in a variety of ways. Obviously both a domestic and commercial coffee machine are designed to make the perfect cup of coffee, however the main difference lies in the potential workload of each machine. For example, a coffee machine designed for home use is likely to only be used a few times each day, whereas a commercial coffee machine is built with constant use in mind.

The coffee shop boom has taken a strong foothold in the UK in recent years and coffee bars such as Starbucks, Costa and a multitude of independent coffee shops can be found on almost every corner in many towns and cities throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Chances are that none of these places would survive if they relied on a domestic coffee maker as the constant use, day in, day out would soon take it’s toll on a coffee maker designed for infrequent daily use. Customers would soon drift away as the tool which their business relies on fails to deliver an excellent cup of coffee, every minute of every day.

Commercial coffee machines however are designed to cope with constant use. They are real workhorses in comparison to their domestic counterparts. Think family car versus a tractor; which would fall apart first in an agricultural environment?  We are not claiming that domestic coffee makers are substandard, far from it. These do exactly what it says on the tin as in you pour fresh coffee beans in one end, and the perfect cup of coffee comes out the other end.

If you’re only likely to use a coffee machine a couple of times a day for your breakfast or early evening cup of coffee, then a home or domestic coffee maker is what you need, as they are often more compact and less expensive. If you own a coffee shop and need a coffee maker to deliver potentially hundreds of cups of coffee a day, then a commercial coffee machine is what you need.

If Amsterdam got rid of all its coffee shops that sell marijuana, would that hurt its tourism?

If all the places in Amsterdam and Holland got rid of every place that sells cannabis and other drugs, how would that affect the tourism there? and why?

Let me get the facts straight first:
No drugs are legal in the Netherlands, and only Weed/Marijuana/Hash or however you want to call it, is officially ignored, and that only if many rules are followed.
The rules go for the whole country, not just Amsterdam, although municipalities can keep a tighter check on the sales if there is a lot of problems. (Holland is the nickname of the country, the Netherlands the English version of the official name.)

I think given a few years to get the news to spread the net result in number of visitors will stay the same or go up.
At this time only one in four of the foreign visitors uses the coffee shops, and most of them only for a small amount. I guess most of those people will keep coming to Amsterdam.
The rest, the ones that get stoned out of their heads each day here can not put a lot of money into the legal economy, as most of their money disappears into the black hole behind the coffee shops, the illegal economy.

And right now Amsterdam has an unjustified bad reputation abroad, when that reputation is replaced by the real, clean and good reputation that will be true then, people who avoid Amsterdam now will come too, likely rising the visitor numbers higher than they are now, with all of the money coming in going into the legal economy.

That is why a container with a tight lid is the best place to store your java. Also, always remember that freshly brewed coffee or a cup of coffee that has just been prepared tastes a lot better compared to the coffee that came from the same pot but has been served hours later.

From simply boiling the coffee grains in a pot of water, now you have manual or automatic drip filter machines that allow the hot water to pass through the java grains and into a container.
