Coffee Decor

Loving Coffee Is A Serious Subject

When you talk about coffee house kitchen decor, you are onto a serious subject for a lot of coffee lovers out there running around on a continuous stream of energy from caffeine. Some people simply cannot function; get into gear or out of bed in the morning without having their first cuppa.

As much as you have the thrill of coffee aromas swirling up your nasal passages, you may not be able to have those aromas and flavors lingering around you all day at your work place. You can however go to a coffee beanery store and obtain some wonderful gadgets and gizmo’s for your coffee house kitchen decor.

The serious coffee store should have basically anything and everything your heart could desire for your coffee house kitchen decor theme at home. You might only just have to do the cafe curtains on the rod yourself, as that could fall into the linen category, but adding to your creative spirit you could do your own coffee designs on them.

Memoirs of Wishes from the Coffee Shop

Every time you have walked pass the coffee store you freeze for a brief moment and breathe in the aromas deeply with your eyes closed, just wishing you could have everything displayed for your own coffee house kitchen decor theme. And then you step away, another day when the finances look a bit better you think. You know this coffee house kitchen decor theme could cost you an arm and a leg if you seriously love coffee that much.

Then one day, you stop in front of the store, and you actually had the guts to walk in and start looking at all this wonderful coffee house kitchen decor. You have been wasting all this time wondering and wishing for your finances to be okay, that you do realize there are some things that you can start gathering piece for piece, month for month.

You decide for the following pay day, you are going to start with the coffee cup kitchen decor, just to start your collection. This is your first choice of coffee cups you would keep sacred until you got the first plunger you plan to buy the month after that.

This is just the beginning of your collection. Once you have the plunger and the mugs of your choice, the coffee beans would seam to be a constant urgency. From this point onwards you would have to save up for the ideal Barista coffee machine that you always dreamed of owning, besides purchasing the odd little gadgets that go with making delicious coffee, month to month.

Coffee Packs
Is it possible to make a cup of coffee from coffee beans (eg Starbucks) without a coffee maker?

I ask this question in the Christmas section because you always see gift packs with coffee beans and it’s not instant coffee. And I am always worried that the gift receipient doesn’t have a coffee maker.

Yes, you can make it “murphy style” or some refer to it as cowboy or camp side style. Just use the ground bean and a pot of water, bring to a boil and let the grounds settle. Sometimes I still prefer the way brewing coffee this way gets you by the short and curlies.

If it is whole bean it might not work so well, but they could use a small spice mill or even a mortar and pestle if need be to grind up the beans.

Design Coffee
If God wanted us to have no gods before Him, why did He intelligently design coffee to be so awesome?

Why didn’t He make all coffee, sucky coffee?

Just remember his wording there. We can’t love coffee MORE than him. It’s perferctly acceptable to love coffee as much as God!

Handmade Coffee
Name of a shabby chic/home decor shop in Bruges, Belgium

I went on holiday 2 weeks ago to Bruges and found the cutest shop that specialised in shabby chic/country home decor items — old advertising signs, handmade soaps, quilts, old style mohair stitched teddy bears, old fashioned style coffee pots and lots of nik naks that are in the vintage cream colour that is so popular & items in the style of what we see as being classic country French (Belgian) decor – some items such as hand lotion bottles with decorative French words. I had wanted to return to make purchases – but when I did, it was a national holiday on July 21st and it was closed. I seem to remember it was a short walk from St Salvator-Kathedraal. Any ideas what the name of it is and whether they have a website? Many thanks-
update: I don’t think it is the Zilverpand as that doesn’t sound familiar – but thanks for the reply. I think it is on St Salvatorskerkhof (if that is the actual street name that goes past the cathedral itself).

I know there’s a few narrow streets behind the St.Salvatorskerk and there are some small shops there and even one or two that might fit the description of what you say they sell. I rarely go into Brugge though, should I and the question is still open I will edit.

Coffee Wood

Filter Your Water Using Scrap Wood and PVC

In spite of minimum standards for city water, many have opted to filter their drinking water anyway. After all, just because water tastes all right and does not have an odor doesn’t mean it is pure. Of course, the safest way to know if you water is safe is to take a sample to a testing center. But even if it passes this test, you still may want to filter it, just to be sure.

Why spend a lot on a filter unit when you can make one yourself? Below is an inexpensive plan for making a carbon water filter that will guarantee to make most drinking water safer.

Step one is to acquire the needed supplies. You will need a piece of vinyl hose and a drill and bit the size of the outside hose diameter. You will also need a length of 2 1/2 inch PVC pipe, a cap and a can of sealant. Finally, you will need a paper coffee filter.

Now you are ready for the construction. First, drill a hole in the cap and insert the piece of vinyl tubing. Seal it as necessary so that water will not leak around it. Then insert the cap onto one end of the PVC pipe and seal this as needed. Finally, fold the paper coffee filter so that it fits into the PVC pipe and push it down so that it covers the hole where the vinyl tubing is inserted.

Hold the unit upright and fill it with carbon. Then, run water over the carbon until the PVC is full. Check to be sure the vinyl tubing is dispensing the clean water into a washed storage container. It is advisable to discard the first batch since you could not guarantee no contaminants were in the materials you used.

A rule of thumb is this: the more carbon the water passes over before exiting the unit, the more filtering takes place. Thus, the longer the PVC pipe, the better. Don’t forget to replace the carbon from time to time and to clean out the PVC pipe at the same time. How often this is needed depends on how contaminated your water is and how much water you filter.

You may not get a great quantity of water using this inexpensive method, but it will be enough to drink and, if the container is refilled regularly, you can store the purified water for future use.

If this sounds like too much work, consider the Berkey Filters line. The Black Berkey purification elements that ship with the Travel Berkey Water Filter are so powerful, they can remove food coloring from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs. And since they are gravity fed, no electricity is needed. Virtually no other filtration element can duplicate this performance.

Wood Coffee
How do I get wax off of a wood coffee table?

I have a coffee table made with wood veneer and one day I was burning candles on it and I accidentally kicked the table and wax splattered all over it! I’ve scratched some of it off, but I’m afraid I’ll scratch off the finish! Is there an easier way to get it off? I’d really appreciate any advice!! Thanks in advance!

get a brown paper bag, place on top of the wax, no hold a low heat iron (iron set on low heat that is) over the bag (not touching – just placed right over it – this will draw up the wax into the bag….may take a few times depending on the wax….then rub on some pledge or better murphy’s oil (murphy’s is the best) – voila!
