Why Burr Coffee Grinders Are So Popular
Burr coffee bean grinders are indeed the most popular type of coffee grinder there is available. Compared to the other types of grinder such as the blade coffee grinder, the Burr grinder has proved to be popular the world over with its ease of use and quiet acoustics.
The burr grinders come in both manual and electrical models and the way they work is to utilise two revolving elements either conical or wheel and between these elements the coffee beans become crushed. In this process the coffee beans become crushed and their oils released in order to give the coffee its sweet aroma and rich taste. These types of grinder tend to grind coffee beans at size which is uniform and is tended to be worked out depending on how close the user requires the two revolving elements to be together.
There are a number of grind settings which would make them able to grind coffee depending on what type of brew the user would wish to have from drip, to espresso, percolator, French press amongst the many available.
Of the Burr coffee bean grinders available, they are usually sorted into two groups;
- Conical burr grinders are quiet machines that make use of burrs that are made of steel that in turn let them grind while rotating quite slowly, thus this has minimal frictional heating of the coffee grounds.
- Wheel grinders, tend to however, not rotate as fast and instead warm up the coffee grounds by use of friction. They are not as expensive as other grinders and used more in domestic settings, but are much more messier than conical burrs.
If you are looking for a grinder for your home or commercial use, then a burr grinder will give you the power to select what grind you require and grind the coffee beans in an efficient way. There are many models available to try out depending on what your requirements are, so test and research the best one that suits your needs.

What is this mysterious coffee ailment of grains?
Lately when I drink coffee i seem to be annoyed by tiny grains of something that collect in the back of my mouth or throat. I’ve never seen them I just feel them. I use normal basket filters and a capresso burr grinder on the middle or biggest “medium” grind settting. since I can’t enjoy my coffee I may end my life myself soon so please help with your responses quickly.
Try blending in the smallest graduation or try using a different brand. sometimes quality of product varies with time even from the same factory as they may have something broken in hte production line or simply get the grains from somewhere cheaper or different specie of grains, etc.

Can you grind coffee beans from home at the grocery store for free without getting in trouble?
I don’t have a burr grinder yet, but I really would like uniform grinding.
Where are you buying whole coffee beans? Wherever you buy the beans, you should be able to grind them there too.
Use your blade grinder for the beans you have now. Find a coffee friend with a burr grinder and share some of your bean for “renting” the grinder. Check Craigslist for used burr grinders.
I see lots of issues with taking food back into a store that has been opened in someones house. I suspect there are health and safety codes that govern this type of activity. How does the store know you didn’t steal their coffee? How often do you plan on doing this?
Burr grinders are not too expensive. By the time you calculate your travel time to/from the store, the hassle you will get at each store you visit (you will have to change stores often because you will be banned from some stores), the possibility of jail time if the store manager reports you, the cost of a burr grinder is pretty cheap.
