Blend Coffee

Coffee Maker – A Whole New Meaning To The Phrase

When a friend mentioned to me that they had a new coffee maker I naturally assumed there would be a shiny new coffee pot and heater unit sitting on the kitchen counter top. But that wasn’t the event at all. My friend had been introduced to a new ‘Barista’ whose new espresso coffee recipes were making a big stir with the local office crowd.

My knowledge of such a profession was sadly lacking but I became very impressed with the skill, knowledge of beans and roasts, and the deft handling of a large variety of complex and subtle coffee drink recipes. Indeed, the whole art of making coffee requires an array of skills, an advanced knowledge of product and months of practice and that was something that was very impressive.

The actual word ‘Barista’ is really Italian for bartender but in the English language it has come to mean someone who prepares espresso based coffee drinks, although in North America generally the term has been used for any one employed in a coffee house situation. I like the comparison with the word for wine expert which is ‘Sommelier’ as a ‘Barista’ must also be highly trained in all aspects of coffee, roasting, blending and the use of espresso equipment. Goodness knows how many different types of coffee there are in the world or even more relevant, how many different blends!

A coffee maker can be a finely educated ‘athlete’ when it comes to mixing exotic espresso drinks and there are competitive events around the globe where a barista can show his or her skills, but it takes flair, training and much practice to be considered for such performances. The Olympians of the coffee makers world.

Monte Carlo was the site of the first World Barista Championship and that was in 2000 and it quickly caught on. Almost ten years later, the World Championships are held in a different country each year and host the winners of the various national titles. Judges assess the drink made and the person who made it. The score includes not only taste but presentation and speed, as preparation is against the clock with only fifteen minutes being allowed for each Baristas performance.

Every entrant must use the espresso machine provided but many bring a whole grab-bag of exotic ingredients. Syrups, sprinkles, fruits, ground spices and even their own blended coffee roasts. In fact they must prepare four signature drinks, four different cappuccinos and four espressos while four judges sample, taste and smell: all with foam art and graphics, to complete the presentation. Fifteen minutes can mean a whole lot!

Winners have made coffee drinks with cane sugar, pepper-gel, lavender, white pepper, infused sage leaves, honey and dark chocolate squares. The 2004 World Champion from Canada named Sammy Piccolo, used raw sugar, egg yolks, curry, bittersweet chocolate and milk with his specially blended coffee roast and called his winning creation ‘Insieme’.

These competitions require dedication and hard training, just like any athlete working towards a World Championship and this puts a whole new perspective on the phrase ‘Coffee Maker’, so when you are considering your next cup of espresso, think about some new recipes and some new flavorings and maybe you could be our next representative.

Ground Coffee
Can you use store bought ground coffee in a french press?

So i just got a French press and are a little unsure of how to use it properly. The directions and other websites have said to only use coarsely ground coffee in the press ( the directions said it would clog the filter and other how-to sites said it would go through the filter). My question is then this: is pre ground coffee (ex. fresh market Christmas blend) from the store not a good idea to put in the French press? I do not have a coffee grinder and am not planning on buying one.

For just a few dollars, I would say you would find a coffee grinder an excellent buy. French press and store bought coffee, to me is an oxymoron. Freshly grinding it makes all the difference in the world in regards to flavor and aroma. Some grocery stores allow you to grind right there, which is great, but how old are the roasted beans sitting there waiting to be bought? Peak freshness for flavor and aroma is grinding 24 hours after roasting, those could be weeks or months old! I may be a coffee snob, admitted, but if you bought the press, your on the right track for an exceptional cup, its a great start. check into gourmet beans at www.coffeeam.com they ship the same day they are roasted! And see if you can find a grinder at your local Target to suit the grind your looking for. Good Luck!!!!

What To Search For On An Auto Coffee Brewer

Many individuals prefer automatic espresso machines for many reasons. Quite a number of people buy them to save some of the cash spent in coffee shops while others just want the joy of having fresh espresso drink anytime they want. As a matter of fact, the reason for owning it does not matter, all you need to know is that this kitchen appliance is great to have. It is nice luxury to have even when you only use it occasionally.

Having espresso as a present could be done in many ways and you may use your imagination to make it a more special gift to your loved ones. How would you do make coffee a special gift to the person that you are giving it with? Foe instance, you can put the espresso in a gift basket which is also considered to be associated with coffee giving style of present for a very long time already done by many people already.

Even if you don’t necessarily enjoy coffee all that much chances are that you have received coffee as a gift at one point or another. Espresso gift baskets, though, include everything related to espresso and then some other accessories as well. For example, you could include some coffee beans that could easily be used in an espresso machine or you could include a coffee mug or espresso shot glasses.

Prior to purchasing an automatic espresso machine, you should be aware of a couple of things. An espresso machine is among the costly appliances you can purchase for your counter-top. Having said this, you do not want to buy the bottom of line, but you, obviously, do not want to break the bank either.

As a result, watch out for good deals when looking to buy yours. Check the Internet for store coupons. Check the Sunday ads for deals published weekly by the local stores in your area. Search for the less expensive machine you want on the Internet. No matter what you do, it is ideal to check for a better deal and not be pushed to buy the first machine you see.

A pleasant bonus, on any automatic espresso appliance, is to be given a grinder. A pre-ground espresso beans purchased from several shops will surely not be of high quality as fresh ground beans. You can decide to get a separate grinder but that will be spending more and utilizing more space. Getting an espresso appliance that comes with a grinder is handy and you will happy that you do.

You would be astounded with the kind of deal you will get from a little research. You may think you have found the greatest machine on the market, but a little research may prove you to be wrong. Get testimonials of people concerning the counter-top machines you want to go for. The benefits and shortcomings should be examined before making your final decision. Espresso machines can be either manual or automatic, make sure yours is automatic.

You can as well differentiate the semi-automatic and the fully-automatic. The fully-automatic cost some additional money. If you are to choose among the three kinds, the latter will provide you with utmost happiness, therefore be sure of what you are purchasing. There is surely nothing more pleasurable than when you take a glass of espresso at the wake of the morning. Your very own automatic espresso machine is the only way to fully enjoy this luxury. Do not jump into a purchase, instead, take your time finding just the right machine for you; you will be happy you did.

Blended Coffee

Efficiency of coffee machines

Modern coffee machines are becoming increasingly common. Today it is not uncommon to find coffee machines in offices, recreational rooms, coffee corners and even homes. The period in which there were only coffee machines in cafes and restaurants is over. Every office or home today keeps a place of honor for an excellent coffee machine which prepares espresso, cappuccino, macchiato and more. All coffee makers work differently.

What’s most important about coffee beans?
The most important thing is the freshness of the coffee beans. It is important to keep the coffee beans in a safe place, without exposure to air or the sun. Fine coffee is coffee that is fresh and hasn’t been used. Make sure that the coffee machine does not use coffee that absorbed moisture and lost some of its tastes and smells. Once grinding the beans, they keep fresh for only two days. Fine cafes are careful to grind the coffee just before serving the customer.

How to store coffee beans and coffee machines?
To make sure your coffee machine keeps offering hot drinks with aroma, the coffee beans must be kept in vacuum bags that can be stored for a long time. Of course, after opening a package of coffee beans, be sure to seal it hermetically and serve the drinks as soon as possible. It is not recommended to store the coffee in the freezer because it directly affects the quality of the taste and smell of the coffee. Good coffee machine work best when you use fresh beans.

How are coffee machines most efficient?
Best coffee blends come from the finest varieties of coffee around the world. Boxes arrive in Israel with ground coffee in hermetically sealed aluminum capsules. Each capsule contains a precise amount of coffee beans of various types. Hermetically sealed packaging keeps special aroma and taste of each blended coffee and ensures the freshness of the beans just until serving.

Coffee capsules?
Capsules of the best machines contain special coffee blends exclusively imported to Israel. Some coffee varieties are genetically superior so they can hold up to 9 months in storage once roasted. Some coffee machines have an external tank. The advantage in that is that you do not have to repeatedly fill the machine with coffee beans. Always nice to have a cup of coffee from a fine coffee machine.

Cottage Coffee
Suggestions for revamping a coffee table?

I have a wooden coffee table with glass inserts. It is a light color wood with clear glass. It also has a bottom shelf. Any suggestions on how I can make it look more “cottage” style? It has a sealant on the wood. Would I be able to paint it white if I sand it first?
I’m not thinking hunting cottage with dark wood…I’m thinking beach cottage or maybe shabby chic style with white furniture.

Try de-glossing it with Paseo to save yourself some sanding. Then you will only need a fine grit paper and don’t risk leaving scratches that will show through the paint. Paseo will take away the shine of the sealant. I would use a stain blocking primer like Zinsser first and then two coats of latex in the color of your choice.

Coffee Whole
Which coffee beans (whole or ground) have hightest cafine content?

Some drinkers crave cafine, others avoid it EG.. Decaf. If cafine content (rating) were include in label info, it would help choosy drinkers to select the right coffee for themselves. Joe Hicswa.

Whole bean or ground make absolutely no difference…
The Robusta beans have more caffeine than Arabica beans.
Light roasted beans have more caffeine than darker roasted beans.
The reason darker has less caffeine is because in the roasting process the longer and hotter the roast the more caffeine is burnt off.

What you are losing in the whole bean verse ground bean is flavor. Ground beans give up there flavor more quickly. Whether that be in brewing or in setting. Ground beans give up a lot of their flavor after setting. The air around the grounds draws off the flavors, that is why you ‘smell’ ground coffee more than whole beans. So what you are smelling is what you will NOT be tasting because it’s GONE….
